Who Are We?

Who are we?
We are two young women with a passion for animals. We’ve hand-raised many animals between us, from fostering native birds in QLD right through to nursing some tiny mice when their mother was killed by rat bait. In December 2017, we got a call from a friend saying that her rabbit had given birth… just before she was due for a trip over east! It was an accidental litter (the male was in a separate cage, but apparently children don’t understand the rules of separate playtimes), and the whole family was about to be out of the state.
So we got the seven baby rabbits when they were less than two weeks old. They came in a little box, all huddled and adorable. We got them home and into warmth before trying to feed them. It didn’t go well. They wouldn’t drink, and we struggled for the first couple of days.
Pretty soon they were gulping down their formula, drinking over 15mls a sitting. They were about 100grams when we first managed to weigh them, and now they’re all up around a kilo! It was amazing watching them grow and play, and become the cutest little bunnies every. Each had a different personality, and they all loved our company, rushing to us whenever we entered the room.
Whilst we were raising them, we found a pregnant mum and picked her up, mostly by accident. She came with a hutch and a belly full of babies. One was still born, but the other four survived and are now all in their new homes (we kept one called Tia, she’s a beautiful little otter girl). Now we’ve fallen in love with rabbits, and after watching the difference between Lilly’s litter and the babies we hand raised, we really want to continue with a proper breeding program, but with a twist.
With one of us in the midst of studying Animals at University and through online courses (three different degrees and three different certificate courses, on top of all the already achieved qualifications), the genetic side of things truly inspired us. But the personalities of the hand raised babies were astounding, with them seeing us as part of their little family so much better than the rabbits raised by their mothers.
So we’ve decided to start not only a breeding program and rabbitry, but to test hand raising versus raising by mamma rabbit. As such, we are offering incredibly socialised and friendly rabbits with a variety of gorgeous colours, and any help needed in become a bunny owner.
We are also continuing our hand raising business. We’ve recently gotten a young kitten rescued from the hay shed of a rural farm, which is now a part of the family. We will take in anything; young birds (I’ve applied for my Aviculture license just in case), small mammals, puppies and kittens. We will also go out of our way to rescue an animal in need, whenever we can. Feel free to call us whenever, day or night we’ll try our best to answer.
